Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of the Extinguisher Log app for iPhone and iPad. By downloading or using Extinguisher Log you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

Extinguisher Log is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where that agreement and these terms conflict on a matter it covers, it prevails.

2. Licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Extinguisher Log on Apple devices you own or control, under the rules of your Apple Account and Family Sharing. You may use it for commercial purposes, including inspecting equipment for your employer or your clients.

You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, redistribute, resell or sublicense the app, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.

3. Purchases

Extinguisher Log is free to download, with a limit of one site and 15 active extinguishers, and reports carry a watermark. A single non-consumable in-app purchase removes those limits permanently.

• It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews and nothing is billed again.
• The purchase is tied to your Apple Account and works with Family Sharing. Use Restore purchase in Settings on a new device.
• All payments are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
• Prices may change for future purchasers. A change never affects a purchase already made.

4. Your data and your responsibility for it

Extinguisher Log stores everything on your device and transmits nothing. See the Privacy Policy for detail. Two consequences you are accepting:

• Records do not sync between devices. Your purchase travels with your Apple Account; your data does not. Moving records means exporting a backup and importing it.
• Backups are your responsibility. We hold no copy of your data and cannot recover it if your device is lost, damaged, reset, or the app is deleted. Extinguisher Log prompts you to export backups; acting on those prompts is up to you.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, and for any personal information about other people — inspector, technician and company names — that you record.

5. What the records are, and are not

This section is the reason this page exists. Read it properly.

• Extinguisher Log records what you tell it. It cannot and does not verify that an inspection was performed, that it was performed correctly, or that a checklist result is truthful.
• The service intervals built into the app are defaults reflecting commonly published requirements. Standards are revised, and your local authority having jurisdiction may impose stricter or different requirements. The current edition of the applicable standard and your local authority always take precedence over anything this app shows you.
• Annual maintenance, six-year internal examinations, hydrostatic testing and recharging must be carried out by licensed personnel. Extinguisher Log records these events; it does not perform, authorise or validate them.
• The compliance evidence required by the standard is the physical tag attached to the extinguisher, plus the verification collar after a six-year internal examination. An entry in this app does not substitute for either.
• Reminders are a convenience. Missing one, for any reason including a device being off, out of battery, or notification permission being declined, does not shift responsibility for a missed service onto us.
• Extinguisher Log is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or certified by the National Fire Protection Association or any standards body, certification body, or regulator.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use Extinguisher Log to create false, misleading or fraudulent inspection records. The app contains deliberate constraints against this — un-editable entry timestamps, backfilled records marked as such, append-only inspection history, and no bulk "mark as passed" across periods. Attempting to defeat those constraints, or presenting Extinguisher Log output as something it is not, is a breach of these terms and may expose you to serious legal liability that is entirely your own.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

Extinguisher Log is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits any consumer rights you have that cannot lawfully be limited.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, records, profits, revenue, business, or goodwill, arising out of or connected with your use of or inability to use Extinguisher Log — even if advised of the possibility.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Extinguisher Log is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, losses and costs arising from your use of Extinguisher Log in breach of these terms or in breach of any law or regulation applicable to you.

10. Changes to the app and these terms

We may update, change or discontinue features. Because the app runs entirely on your device, a version already installed keeps working; you are not dependent on a service that we might switch off.

If these terms change, the revised version is posted here with a new effective date. Continuing to use Extinguisher Log after that constitutes acceptance.

11. Third-party rights

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for Extinguisher Log. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without depriving you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
